Many buses brought us here
from the convention center for an evening out. Guests of a prominent
company, we mingle uncomfortably just outside the gate of a castle
in England. Suddenly, a red knight on a horse appears and invites
us to a feast. Relieved, we follow him on a path around a moat.
Halfway, a court jester is preparing to entertain us. By the time
he is bent back and eating fire, his audience, cold and hungry,
has mostly past; the line of dark suits is quickly disappearing
behind the castle wall. At this moment I realize that here, under
the guise of fun, we are all actually hard at work.
